Drive drum coverings
Recovering drive drums can be done in several different ways
The Best way is hot vulcanising, this is the most long lasting and hard wearing. Uncured rubber is wound round the drum to the required thickness, this is then cured in an autoclave. To hot vulcanise, the drum must be removed from the machine and sent to our works. Turnaround time is usually about a week.
The second option is cold bond, this involves sticking the rubber to the drum with a special adhesive. The bond is not as good as hot, but can be done in either our works in-situ. This method requires 24hours of cure time before the machine can be run
The third option is weld-on. These are strips of steel with the rubber pre vulcanised on. The steel is then either welded to the the drum directly, or slid into the weld-on brackets. This can be undertaken by anyone with a welder, in-situ, and the machine can be run straight away. This option is a good way to keep cost down by DIY.
