Our M8 and M70stable mats, because they are relatively light, rely for their stability on being abutted tightly to each other and against all four walls. If they are at all "loose" or there are any gaps they will become displaced and need re-laying.
On horsebox and trailer floors the M70 and M11 ramp mat should all be secured using 1½" posidrive screws.
Unless otherwise stated, all mats are usually available ex-stock.
All Fieldguard rubber mats are formed with a high natural rubber content to a specific gravity of 1.2-1.4gm/cc (identical to car tyres). Their Indian factories are ISO9001:2000 certified so ensuring consistent quality, while our UK factory manufactures to finer tolerances than those demanded by ISO certification.
When buying stable mats, if they are intended to be used in conjunction with reduced bedding (rather than just litter) the thickness is largely immaterial. A 12mm mat is as effective as a 15-18mm one. When buying purely on cost considerations it therefore makes sence to consider the easily managed 12mm mats rather than the more expensive 15-18mm ones. The safest minimum thickness with small amounts of additional bedding (¼ bale or less of shavings) that will obviate discomfort and damage to a laying horse is 18mm.
The use of sealant or adhesive with any mat laid on a stable floor is not advisable as there is no known sealent that stands up to the corrosive effects of the ammonia urine beyond about 6 months.
Mats may look uninviting to humans but horses will happily and comfortably lie on and correctly designed rubber bed.
Giving a specific time guarantee is meaningless as the manufacturers have no control over how the mats are cared for or used. Offered guarantees must be specific to wear, smell starting to break down, pitting of top surface. Latex is a natural product that starts to perish after about 12 years. Under normal usage and care all our stable mats should have a long and useful life span while the EVA mats have a proven life well in excess of twelve years. Provided the dried urine is regularly scoured from surface with a suitable cleaning fluid such as Green Gloop, none should start to deteriorate until well into their second decade of use.
All Fieldguard mats carry a full warranty against faulty workmanship.
