Which Conveyor Belt Fasteners?

Choosing the right belt joint from the large array of Flexco fasteners can be daunting. This guide will help you take out some of the guesswork.

The most common type of joint we use, and the easiest for DIY installation, is the plate fastener. Consisting of a top and bottom plate which are bolted either side of the belt to sandwich the ends together. These are available in a range of sizes and materials to suit different applications.

Size

The three main sizes we use are 140, 190 and 1-1/2, these are suitable for belts of 5-11mm, 8-14mm and 11-17mm respectively. You also need to factor in the minimum pulley diameter to select the correct fastener. These are shown on the individual product pages of our shop.

Material

The different materials all have different uses:

Steel
Suitable for most applications.

MegAlloy
Superior wear resistance for highly abrasive products but not corrosion resistant.

Everdur
Spark free and non magnetic, we usually use these on overband magnet belts.

VP Vulcanised Plate
Rubber covered top plates are low profile and abrasion resistant. More suitable for use with scrapers than regular plate fasteners.

Selecting the wrong belt clips could lead to suboptimal lifespans for both belt and joint so if you’re unsure of the best fastener for your application don’t hesitate to contact us.
